Chuck E Cheese

Yesterday was such a dreary day...you could see that winter was coming...it was cold, windy, cloudy and just dreary. We decided to take the kids to Chuck E Cheese for the day.

Early Halloween

Halloween events started so early this year.

Last Wednesday Marissa attended a party with the Scouts in the Deer Lakes area.

Here's a pic of her

Today we have a party my friend Deb and her son CJ are throwing. I made some treats...

I'll be back with more pics from the party!

CCD Lessons

Marissa started CCD this fall in anticipation of making her First Holy Communion next year.

Driving home tonight she said, I'm talking nice to some people in my head. OHHH Kay!

So I asked who and she told me "God, Jesus, The Holy Spirit & Santa Claus!" all-righty then!

"I'm telling them that they treat us really nice".

The Great Remote Control Hunt

Every day (or evening) is the Great Remote Control Hunt in my house. No matter where I put it the day before, once the kids get hold of it, it's lost and I have to hunt it down.

Sometimes I long for the days of old time remotes attached to TV's, or even getting up and changing the channel Dial (yes I am aging myself), but then I wouldn't be able to watch the shows that I DVR'd.

I need the remote to access the DVR.

I need the remote to fast forward through the commercials.

I need the remote to review something I didn't catch.

So I hunt it down. Day after day after day after day. I first check all the surface places: the rugs, the TV stand, the table. Then I check between the cushions of the couch, and inevitably find crumbs or candy wrappers, which aren't supposed to be there because there's not supposed to be any eating on the couch. I then get down on my hands and knees and reach under the couch and chair. Of course, the dogs think it is play time and get down on the floor too and roll around me. Then I look under the furniture in case it's not within reach.

AHA! Eureka! It's found. A different place every day---today it was under the dining room table. Don't even ask.

Ahhhhh... One Life to Live and General Hospital here I come!

TBall

Dylan is CRAZY about baseball. So much so that for the whole year that he was 3 he was insistent that he would play baseball next year. So when 4 rolled around I started looking into T-Ball for him. Well only to find that our township starts at 5 years of age. DILEMMA! So I searched around and found that the youth center started at age 4. He's the youngest and smallest on his team, but he's the most determined. He loves hitting, fielding and the roar of the crowd.

The cheering crowd :)

This was the one present that Dylan was waiting & hoping for! Thanks Miss Ellie & Uncle Cal!!!

Extending I Love You's

we had an "awww" moment today on the way to a picnic...

the kids started a round of "I love you mom!" "I love you dad" in the car and we repeated "I love you Marissa!", "I love you Dylan"

we sat there smiling of how simple and sweet it all was....

that was until we passed the horse farm and Dylan continued with "I love you horsey! I love you piggy! I love you pony!"...

well it was perfect while it lasted!

Identification

Some people would think we were rich or business owners if they listened to Dylan's descricptive identification of places we go. Today after T-Ball I told him we were going to Walmart and he wanted to know if we were going to PeePa's Walmart on Route 8 or Mommy's Walmart (Super Center). I told him that we were going to the one on Route 8, to which he followed "then we can go to Peepa's McDonald's when we are done because Daddy's McDonald's is too far!"

Six Year Old Logic

Last night Dylan & Marissa sat down to play Connect Four and Marissa decided to choose the colors:

M: "you be black and I'll be red"
D: "why Sissy?"
M: because you should like black
D: "why?" (yes he still does that annoying WHY? WHY? WHY?)
M: well because Daddy's favorite color is black.
D: so?
M: well his favorite color is black, he likes baseball, you like baseball, you love daddy, so you should like black.
D: um, ok!

Scooter

Marissa "bought" Dylan a scooter for his birthday and we added on a new helmet and pads. This was his first shot at riding:

4??? Where did the time go!

Dylan turned 4 on September 2nd. I can hardly believe he's 4 years old.

We had a Pirate themed birthday party for him on Saturday the 6th. It was a bit cloudy out but we still managed some outdoor activity for the day.

I made his cake:

We had a treasure hunt in the sand box. Larry filled it with sand and we added "gold" coins, rings, gems and a few pirates. All the kids were digging fools:

And Dylan was even inside the sandbox digging for his treasure:

Dylans First Day of School

This September Dylan started preschool at Deer Lakes Nursery School. He was so excited because this was the preschool where Sissy went.

Here he is doing puzzles.

A few of the boys in his class were in our Monday play group. We met because their siblings all went to preschool together and kindergarten and now Bryce, Michael & Dylan will be going to preschool and kindergarten together too.

Here's Dylan & Bryce listening very intently at story time.
Michael is on the far left with the white blonde hair:
I wish he would listen that well to me!

We have determined that mommy can't visit him at school. I met him at school for orientation and he was doing fine playing with toys and others, however, once he saw me he became clingy and uncooperative...until the promise of a treat after story time was told.

Marissa the 1st Grader!

Wow I can't believe she's in first grade already!
