Spring & Camping & Injuries, Oh My!

I was sooo glad that Spring seemed to finally be here, however, we had rain and cold this weekend...back to jackets and long sleeves.

Camping was FUN! The girls had a ball and I'll share some pictures of the Daisy's in a link.

WE got home and the trouble started. We had a birthday party Saturday night and we all got ready while we waited for Madison's mom to pick her up.

The kids were playing and Dylan was the "Monster" chasing the girls and then we heard crash, boom, bam and WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Larry ran to investigate and found Dylan bleeding from a head wound. He crashed into the joint of two walls at the bottom of the staircase and split his head open. He cried and bleed for about 3 or so minutes and Larry cleaned the wound and put a wet rag on it. We questioned the girls and they insisted they didn't push him and Dylan concurred.

We decided to take him to the ER. Called John to stay with Marissa and called Michele to see how close she was. She was less than 3 minutes away. I packed a backpack with snacks and toys because we all know how long the wait is in the ER.

We left and took him to Passavant and immediately they took him in and determined that it needed to be closed.

So we got into a room, he was really good, got crying or complaining of anything. He sat in his bed and wanted to watch cartoons, then he wanted to watch Baseball. They put a numbing gel on him and then set up to start the procedure of putting staples on the wound to close.

The registration clerk came in to register him and led me out to her desk and I heard him scream for about a minute, when they gave him a needle to further numb the area. I went back in about 5 minutes later and they were discharging him. He had already gotten 3 staples and was sitting back in bed eating an ice pop and watching TV. Larry signed the paperwork, got the instructions and we left. We were there for only about 30 minutes. I was so lucky on so many counts--it wasn't worse, he wasn't going nuts, the wait wasn't long and I didn't have to witness any of the procedure.

He is doing well. Back to his old self and sporting a mean set of staples and Oh what a story to tell.
